Alan Currie (CMT)

After studying music at Strathclyde University and Musical Theatre at Motherwell College, Alan was awarded a full scholarship to study at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (RSAMD). He graduated in 2005 with a Masters Degree in Musical Theatre.

Alan has worked as an actor, singer, musician, teacher, director and composer. Performing highlights include, Nick in Baby, The American in Chess, Freddy in My Fair Lady and Cain and Japeth in the Scottish premier of Children of Eden. At the 2005 Cardiff International Festival of Musical Theatre Alan originated the role of Vinne in the UK premier of Once Upon a Time in New Jersey. He has also been involved as a singer and musician in various concerts across Scotland and Europe, including a performance for HRH Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall.

Along with his writing partner, H.R. Bradford, Alan has written two original musicals. One of Two is a new Scottish musical that reached the final rounds of ‘Highland Quest’ and ‘The Global Search for New Musicals’ and Anonymous a new musical comedy that was recently performed by a selection of students from the BA Hons Acting and BA Hons Musical Theatre courses at Motherwell College.

Alan’s theatre directing credits include My Fair Lady, Anything Goes, Pirates of Penzance, 13, Our House, Godspell and Elegies. He has also been assistant musical director or played keyboard for Rent, Footloose, Zanna Don’t and I Love You Because.

Alan currently works as a lecturer in performing arts at Motherwell College and as a vocal coach and musical director at Glasgow Acting Academy. He is also a successful private vocal coach.

Alan was first introduced to Estill Voice Training by fellow CMT Gillian Archibald and qualified as a Certified Master Teacher for Estill International in June 2011 after completing the Reeve & Møller Certification Pathway™.
