![]() Amanda Goldthorpe-Hall (CMT)![]() Amanda Goldthorpe-Hall is an experienced musical theatre performer and actress, who originally trained as a classical singer on a scholarship place at the Royal Academy of Music. In her 15 (or so!) years in the business, she has undertaken numerous West End and touring contracts, recordings, concerts, commericals and dramas in theatre, TV and film. From commercials for various products for TV, to working with Royal Shakespeare Company, and from roles on The Sooty Show, to playing leading ladies in well-loved musicals such as The Sound of Music, The Phantom of The Opera and Disneys Beauty and the Beast, Amanda has performed in all manner of weird and wonderful mediums, but her passion is musical theatre. She was most proud to be asked to perform for Stephen Sondheim, alongside Dame Judi Dench and Bryn Terfel in the BBC Royal Prom to celebrate his 80th birthday at the Royal Albert Hall as part of a select hand-picked ensemble of West End artists, which was broadcast live on BBC TV and Radio. This was screened concurrently with an advert shed recently recorded for Gala Bingo, so literally a trip from the sublime to the ridiculous with a click of the TV remote. That night she had terrestrial TV all sewn up! That’s part of what she adores about working in theatre, TV and film, the variety and possibility – one moment a peasant, the next a Queen, the next a teapot! Flexibility and versatility is an intrinsic part of being an interesting, employable performer, not just in musical theatre, and her working knowledge of the Estill Voice Model has been invaluable in ensuring her own, and others vocal health for a number of years. As a CMT she enjoys teaching all ages and levels of singer, from professionals and those in training, to children and complete beginners. Having also been principal of her own theatre school, and a theatrical agent along the way, one could say that Amanda sees singing (and the business), from all sides, and she aims to make her teaching relevent, dynamic and as individual as possible for every single one of her students. She has gained her CMT in Estill Voice Training with Reeve & Møller.
