Level Two: Figure Combinations for Six Voice Qualities™

Unleash your vocal power and add new colors to your voice

On this course we will explore the next level of Estill Voice Training. In Level One we worked with the thirteen moveable structures: Figures for Voice™. We focussed on each structure and leaned how to control and isolate it independently. Level Two builds on these skills and you will learn how to put the Figures for Voice together to create the recipes for the six voice qualities that we work with in Estill Voice Training: speech, falsetto, twang, sob, opera and belt. Every voice quality will be explored through both singing and the spoken voice. We will cover the practical aspects of working with voice qualities and examine all the common problems and give straight-forward solutions. Discussion focuses on how to mix these qualities safely and how to apply them artistically in different genres. We also discuss how to vary a voice quality and create even more options to vary your sound.

✔ Have you wondered what belting really is?
✔ Do you have problems projecting you voice in bigger spaces?
✔ Are confused by terms like falsetto and twang?

We will help you to …

✔ Create the six estill voice qualities: speech, falsetto, twang, sob, opera and belt.
✔ Learn how to identify and analyze different vocal sounds.
✔ Identify you own personal vocal set-up in speaking and singing
✔ Understand the risks, limitations and permutations of different voice qualities.
✔ Apply voice qualities in artistic and creative ways.

This is a practical course where you experience creating the six voice qualities. The course includes a quick recap of the information contained in Level One. As well as teachers and students of performance, this course will be of interest to speech and language therapists who work with voice. Presentations are combined with frequent small group practice sessions, supervised by fully-trained interns, where all participants experience creating and applying the six voice qualities. In addition we run master class sessions where you can apply the work to your own performance. We cover how the system relates to different voice fields, from opera to musical theatre, from theatre voice to public speaking, and enable truly versatile vocal performers. Level Two is only for those who have already completed Level One.
